ITOGON, Benguet April 18 – A 24-year old pocket miner died while his two companions were injured after they allegedly succumbed to gas poisoning while cleaning their tailings storage and impounding tank at Fatima, Ucab, here, Monday.
Police authorities identified the fatality as Allen Dao-as, 24, miner while those injured were named as Peter Ticag, 40, and Mr. Benito Bolinget Lengwa, 26, all from Madongo, Sagada, Mountain Province.
Initial police investigation showed that the three pocket miners were reportedly cleaning the tailings impounding tank in the place of incident when they suddenly had a difficult time breathing that caused their other companions to rush them to various hospitals in the city.
Daoas was reportedly pronounced dead on arrival by attending physicians at the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) while his two companions are now undergoing close medical supervision in separate hospitals in Baguio City.
