MANKAYAN, Benguet August 23 – Rescuers were able to recover an initial four lifeless bodies trapped within the debris that buried and washed away some seven shanties at sitio Elizabeth, barangay Taneg here during the resumption of search and rescue operations early Sunday.
Superintendent Jonathan G. Calixto, commanding officer of the Benguet Provincial Public Safety Company, said the identities of the recovered cadavers have yet to be released upon the confirmation of their relatives.
Some 100 rescuers composed of elements of the BPSC, Buguias and Mankayan municipal police stations, volunteers from the municipal disaster risk reduction and management council, barangay officials and the community of Taneg are continuously conducting the search and rescue operations for the remaining individuals that were reported missing after the reported flashfloods late Saturday afternoon.
