BANGUED, Abra March 31 – A 39-year old punong barangay died after he was shot to death by still unidentified motorcycle riding in tandem armed suspects while he was driving a truck loaded with tobacco at Pattucanay, here, Thursday dawn.
Police authorities identified the fatality as Daycarlo Paligutan Millare, 39, married, Barangay Chairman of barangay Budac, Tayum, Abra.
Initial police investigation showed the victim was driving a truck loaded with tobacco to be delivered to Candon City, Ilocos Sur when upon reaching the place of incident, the still unidentified motorcycle riding in tandem armed suspects suddenly fired at him several times hitting him on the different parts of his body while his companions were unhurt during the said incident.
The victim was rushed to the Abra Provincial Hospital for medical treatment but he was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians while the suspects who fled towards Bengued town proper are now the subject of a manhunt operation.
Responding police operatives and elements of the Scene of the Crime Operation (S|OCO) team recovered from the crime scene seven spent shells and a fired bullet of a calibre .45 pistol which was used by the suspects in the perpetration of the crime.
