BAGUIO CITY – The City Council approved a resolution strongly condemning the brutal and bastardly murder of two taxi drivers in the city and nearby Tuba town two weeks ago and called on concerned law enforcement agencies to fastrack the investigation and immediate resolution of the cases.
The local legislative body passed the resolution after relatives of one of the murdered taxi drivers appeared before its Monday’s regular session to seek help in the closure of the case by effecting the arrest of those responsible for the commission of the heinous crime.
Corazon Abundo, sister of Roberto Albino, 47, a native of Bautista, Pangasinan and a resident of Asin Road, Baguio City, who was stabbed dead by still unidentified suspects inside his taxi in Badioan, Tuba, Benguet last August 19, 2017, expressed her family’s gratitude to the support extended by Baguio and Tuba officials and residents in the on-going investigation of the case and reiterated their previous appeal for the immediate resolution of the matter for the attainment of justice for her brother.
Albino left behind a wife, who is a fulltime homemaker and two young children, an elementary pupil and a 2-year old child.
Members of the local legislative body assured the relatives of the taxi driver that law enforcers of Baguio and Tuba are closely working together to investigate the case and possibly identify witnesses that can help lead to the arrest of the suspects.
Earlier, Angel Umali Sarmiento, 39 and a taxi driver was stabbed dead by two knife-wielding suspects after allegedly robbing him inside his taxi along Mulberry Alley, Asin road, Baguio City.
Members of the Tuba Municipal Police Station were able to locate a witness who allegedly saw two females on board the victim’s taxi while enroute to Badioan but the said individual could not actually describe the looks of the said persons, thus, probers are still looking into other potential witnesses who could provide them with a better lead in the resolution of the crime that tainted the peace and order situation in Baguio and Benguet.
Baguio and Tuba police investigators are now closely coordinating in investigating the cases to ascertain the relationship between the suspects who might have committed both crimes.
Baguio and Tuba officials earlier expressed their condemnation of the brutal murder of the two taxi drivers and asserted that the Baguio and Benguet areas remain peaceful and orderly and the two incidents were isolated cases and law enforcers are on top of the situation doing their best to resolve the crimes the soonest.
Probers assured the relatives of the two murdered taxi drivers that they will inform them of any developments in the investigation of both cases, especially when they have identified and arrested the perpetrators of the crimes.
