BAGUIO CITY – The Occupation Safety and Health (OSH) will be conducting a FREE Construction Safety Training (CST) otherwise known as COSH in the City of Baguio on February 13-17, 2017 for the benefit of selected construction workers in the Cordillera through the assistance of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). The training was coordinated by Mr. June Soriano of the Construction Industry Workers Council (CIWC), Mr. Manny Pelayo of the Association of Construction and Informal Workers (ACIW), Mr. Elison Dalmacio, VP of ecopark builders construction and Clint Taynan of metrobaguio.com and Council of Real Estate Builders Association (CREBA). Venue will be announced upon registration.
- HOW TO REGISTER: download forms at www.metrobaguio.com, print, fill-up, scan and email to metrobaguio@gmail.com or submit forms to ECOPARK BUILDERS CONSTRUCTION at JE-108 Sitio Shamolog, Pico, La Trinidad, Benguet. Your emailed form will ensure your enlistment in the master list, but your bond will ensure your slot in case the number of registrants reaches the desired number of slots. To ensure the sponsoring agency and its partners of your participation, a P 950 will be required as bond for your participation that will be return upon completion of the training, cancellation or absence will automatically default your bond in favor of the organizer. Workers from organization currently recognized by CIWC or are currently on the process of registering their local construction group with DOLE, SEC or CDA are favored to bond P495 only.
- PURPOSE OF TRAINING: To ensure safety of workers in the workplace in either their home construction, project site or personal contracted jobs. Furthermore, the organizing partners hopes to open job opportunities and additional skills to workers qualified after the training.
- DESIRABLE PARTICIPANTS: Workers with construction related TESDA NC2 or work certification or any proof of work experience; or workers or volunteers representing any civic organization engaging into small or big construction, rescue and safety related organization may also join but may be limited in terms of the number of representation. Home Repair Construction Owners/Contractors, Human Resource Managers, Advocacy or Construction and Manpower Firms, Real Estate Firms/Organization, TESDA trainers or assessors, Academic Institutions, Security and Safety Agencies manning construction projects may send their personnel to undergo the training even with minimal construction skills but will be required to donate monetary assistance to aid the organizer in organizing civic constructions within the CAR region to add to their experience, certification and credentials. Donations may be monetary, service or in goods in the form of construction supply, tools or machineries to be used in upcoming civic projects.
- Minimum of college level will be required in view of the documentary and mental skills requirement/prescribed by OSH Philippines to practice the profession, otherwise applicants below high school level may just take the Construction Safety Orientation (CSO) with certificate that will be conducted on the 3rd or 4th day alongside with the training. CSO graduates will later be organized to undergo community based training to advance their skills and assist them acquire TESDA certification and enlistment to jobs fair or manpower pooling.
