TAYUM, Abra – A 59-year old farmer died after he was reportedly gunned down by still unidentified assailants right in the compound of their residence at sitio Lengleng, barangay Velasco here Saturday night.
Senior Superintendent Antonio Bartolome, provincial director of the Abra Provincial Police Office, identified the victim as Roberto Baje Bernardez, 59, 59, married, farmer and a resident of sitio Lengleng, barangay Velasco, Tayum, Abra.
Initial police investigation showed that the victim was about to close the gate of the private road leading to their compound when he was fired upon by still unidentified assailants who immediately fled on foot after the shooting incident.
The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds on his head and body that resulted to his instantaneous death.
Elements of the Scene of the Crime Operation (SOCO) failed to recover from the crime scene pieces of evidence that would indicate the firearm used in the shooting incident.
The motive of the victim’s murder is yet unknown, thus, the subject of further investigation by the police operatives.
