STA. MARCELA, Apayao October 118 – A 38-year old farmer was injured after he was allegedly hacked by his younger brother while having lunch with their parents inside their house at San Mariano, here, Tuesday.
Police authorities identified the victim as Erick Calumpit Gorospe, 38, married,
farmer, while the suspect was named as his own brother, Jerry Calumpit Gorospe, 36, married,
farmer, both residents of barangay San Mariano, Sta. Marcela, Apayao.
Initial police investigation showed that the victim was having lunch with their parents when the suspect, who was under the influence of liquor, arrived and confronted the former that resulted to a heated altercation which escalated to a fistfight.
During the commotion, the suspect was able to grab a bolo and hacked the victim twice on his head and twice on his back.
The victim was rushed to the Sta. Marcela District Hospital for medical treatment before being transferred to the Far North General Hospital and Training Center for further treatment while responding police operatives were able to arrest the suspect and confiscate the weapon used in the said incident.
