LAGAWE, Ifugao – The No. 1 top most wanted person of Kiangan town was able to escape from detention inside the Ifugao Distrcit jail at Tiger Hill here Satuday afternoon.
Senior Superintendent Constancio Chinayog, Jr., officer-in-charge of the Ifugao Provincial Police Office, identified the escapee as Sonny Serrano Manabat, 40, driver by profession and a native of Alabog, Tuau, Cagayan, escaped from the Ifugao Provincial District Jail at Tiger Hill, Kiangan, Ifugao.
Manabat, together with his live-in partner, was arrested by elements of the Atok Municipal Police Station for illegal possession of fank money. He was later served his warrant of arrest for kidnapping issued by Judge Romeo U. Habiling of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 14 with no bail recommended for his temporary liberty.
Initial police investigation showed the jail escapee allegedly destroyed with unknown tools the screen located at the back of his detention cell, particularly near the water tank which he used as his exit point.
Jail guards only came to know about his escape when he was found missing during the regular count of the inmates detained inside the facility.
The suspect is now the subject of a manhunt operation by concerned police operatives for him to answer for the crime he committed.
