BAGUIO CITY – After a week of learning the basics in their chosen sports field, children participants in the on-going Summer Frolics of the Young Men’s Christian Association of the locality continues to exude in energy as they go on through the first week of a month long sports fundamental training.
The one hundred plus registrants for the first batch of trainees distributed in the different field of combative sports to include Judo, Karate, and Taekwondo and allied sports in Basketball and Badminton are well under way in their second phase training programs, which according to Y’ volunteer instructors shall include skills and technique development in the different sport fields.
On the other hand, the lesser number of students enrolled in the first batch as a result of changes in the school break for children will give the instructors an ample space to provide more training programs considering their number for better performance, better learning, and understanding of the skills and techniques, as well as the discipline taught to them.
Meanwhile, registration is still on-going for the second batch of trainees which will start on June 7, 2018, where more participants are expected to join. Likewise, registration for the YMCA Pre-School Reading readiness program is still on-going for toddlers’ ages 4-6 years old.
Also scheduled on May 2-5, 2018 is the YMCA Youth Camp, an outdoor training program encamping children 9-16 years of age. The camp program shall indulge participants in outdoor trainings of leadership, values orientation, sports and team building activities, outdoor environmental awareness shall also be included that will help the child to be independent.
