BAGUIO CITY July 24 – A 20-year old construction worker was injured after he was allegedly mauled inside his room by his fellow labourer at the University of the Philippines (UP) compound, here, Friday dawn.
Senior Superintendent Ramil L. Saculles, City Director of the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO), identified the victim as Ervin Jude Tolentino Cid, 20, single, construction worker at UP Baguio, and a resident of Legarda Road, Ferdinand Barangay, Baguio City while he named the suspect as Jonas Bautista De Vera, 23, single, construction worker at UP Baguio, and a resident Bugallon, Pangasinan. .
Initial police investigation showed the victim and the suspect had a drinking session in one of the establishments in the central business district and decided to go back to their quarters inside the UP compound to take a rest.
While the victim was inside his room, the suspect suddenly barged inside and mauled him for still unknown reasons.
The victim was rushed to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) for medical treatment while the suspect was arrested by responding police operatives for him to answer for the crime he committed.
