SADANGA, Mountain Province – A 25-year old labourer died after he allegedly shot himself when they were not able to locate the dog that they were supposed to butcher for Christmas at sitio Takib, Saclit, here, recently.
Police authorities identified the victim as Leon Campiwer Meryang Jr., 25, laborer and a resident of Sitio Chakangen, Saclit, Sadanga, Mountain Province.
Initial police investigate that the victim and his family were about to celebrate Christmas and butcher a dog for the celebration but the animal that they were supposed to butcher was able to escape and ran towards an undisclosed direction.
The victim’s father ordered him and his companions to locate the dog and for several hours, they were not able to look for the dog that prompted them to have a drinking session while it was getting dark.
The victim allegedly showed to his companions a calibre .45 pistol, loaded the same and pointed it to his right temple and then squeezed the trigger that caused it to fire off hitting him on his head.
The victim was rushed to a local hospital for medical treatment but he was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians.
