The Lepanto National High School, one of the oldest schools in the region, established in 1952 has been crowned with the Exceptional Parental Engagement Award by the 2018 International School Awards (ISA) Dubai judging panel.
One of the teachers nominated the school on November 21 to the awards and ISA Dubai confirmed the success of the school as one of ISA Dubai 2018 victors on November 30, 2018 through email. The awarding ceremonies will be held in Dubai on December 21-24, 2018.
To win the award, a narrative of why the school deserves the award was submitted to ISA Dubai. Actually, the school received various awards in recent years due to the relentless support of its stakeholders especially by the parents. LNHS won Region CAR’s 2017 Safest School Award and was first runner-up in the 2017 Gawad KALASAG Nationals under rural public school category.
This 2018, LNHS won the Regional Gawad KALASAG public high school category and was the second placer in the Regional Best Brigada Eskwela Implementers. It is also Benguet’s contender to the Regional Search for Best Performing Schools and Most Functional Barkada Kontra Droga. It also won the Benguet Division’s Most Functional Learning Resource Center, with part-time librarian category.
The parents of LNHS have been very active in the school’s development. One of its programs is the Ronda Patrol where parents take turns going around the community checking on students who are not in school. Another project is the CR Maintenance where parents are hired by the PTA to maintain the cleanliness of the toilets. They also have a School Improvement Fund which they used to put up pathway sheds, railings, canals and other physical development projects. The parents also contribute for school clubs and student participants to the various competitions to the national levels. Through these programs and projects, they were able to provide livelihood to fellow parents and improve the school community.
