It is quite interesting to know that in the top 30 co-ops of CAR Region, managerial positions are dominated by women. To be more precise, twenty-one co-ops out of these top 30 are currently being managed by women. I must tell you, these are not regular or mid-sized co-ops. These are categorized as large with a minimum asset of at least a hundred million. It takes a high level of knowledge, business acumen and a lot of guts to be handling a big organization especially involving huge amounts of money. It is not as easy as you might think.
Now, I want to throw in another information to make it more exciting. Let us focus on the top 10 biggest co-ops. Believe it or not, all of them are managed by women at some point, around 3 or 4 years ago. Modesty aside, the top 3 are in the billionaire status as of this writing. Imagine that, the 10 biggest co-ops in the region are all placed at the hands of women. It was only recently that two managers retired and was replaced by men. Still, the women demolished the men in the top 10 by a wide margin, 8 against 2 in favor of women.
But what is this telling us? Does this mean, women, especially the mothers, are better managers than men? Or is it because of cultural consideration where we generally trust the women to do the household management for us? It is usually the mother who do the budgeting and other related financial matters. Were they able to apply their skills at home in their work? Anyway, this could be an interesting topic for research.
So in this special day for mothers, allow me to honor these women managers who, in a big way, are instrumental in the phenomenal rise and exponential growth of their respective co-ops to the top. As I said, it is not easy to manage a multi-millionaire co-op. We are talking here of a daily transaction in millions.
What is admirable about them is, they are able to handle the pressure attached to a job such as theirs. You have to have a nerve of steel to make tough decisions, possess an in depth knowledge in managing the business including administrative matters, and extreme calmness in dealing with stress in trying to please different kinds of personalities. On top of this, you still have to face your domestic obligations. These women must be extraordinary. They indeed have the abilities of a superwoman.
And most of these women are mothers in their respective families facing possibly an equally stressful environment at home. I really cannot imagine how are they coping with all of these and still remain sane. Oh, did I also tell you how they are facing and resisting temptations day and night considering those large amounts flowing in their hands?
I suppose it is because of this superhuman abilities of women that the survival of men in the top management in co-ops are being threatened to extinction.
