BAGUIO CITY – A 47-year old nurse died after she and eight vehicles were hit by a miser truck that lost its brakes along Marcos highway, Bakakeng Central, here, Friday afternoon.
Senior Superintendent Ramil L. Saculles, City Director of the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO), identified the fatality as Daisy Karen Falag-ey Pangilinan, 47, a nurse and a native of Bontoc, Mountain Province.
Initial police investigation showed the mixer truck driven by a certain Allan Aspoen Dockey, a resident of La Trinidad, Benguet suffered mechanical trouble when it lost its brakes while negotiating a descending portion of Marcos highway and successively hit eight motor vehicles and the victim who was talking on the side of the road.
The victim was rushed to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) for medical treatment but she was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians due to multiple head and body injuries.
The driver was arrested by responding police operatives and is now temporarily detained at the BCPO headquarters awaiting the decision of the victim’s family and the vehicle owners whether or not to file the appropriate charges against the driver and the mixer truck owner.
