BAGUIO CITY – Reserves (IHG) took more than patience to overcome the challenge Town’s Pizza and post a 16 point victory in their match up last Monday, September 4, 2017 at the YMCA Gym, here.
Town’s Pizza made a good head start with two triples to open their forty minutes of prime time basketball action and get an early lead in the first minutes of the game.
In an effort to jockey for control of the boards, both ball clubs, however, plunged into foul trouble towards in the dying minutes of the first canto. The steady shooting Jerry Lubina of Town’s Pizza helped the team hold a 30-23 edge at the end of the first canto buzzer.
Town’s Pizza to take advantage of foul trouble situation to limit the Reserves to the same 23-point output while hitting 25 to maintain their lead, 55- 46, at the end the first half of basketball action.
The reserves got their second wind at the start of the second half and quickly got back in the game as Nelvin Turtoga, Voltaire Waden, and Ronaldo Abang took charge for the reserves offensive plays.
Turtoga dished outlet passes on the run while Abang and Waden gave their share of conversions in the field to led a 34-14 blast and reversed possession of the lead after the third, 80-69, eleven points in favour of the Reserves.
Town’s Pizza tried igniting a rally in the fourth but their players became short of stamina and endurance as the Reserves pump in the gas and speed up the game to controlled the pace. In the end, the Reserves got to win the battle, 109–93, as the final buzzer sound off.
