BAGUIO CITY – The preparation of the road network plan for the city is underway.
Mayor Mauricio Domogan last week created a technical working group to prepare the plan pursuant to Resolution No. 106 series of 2016 of the city council.
In Administrative Order No. 49 series of 2016, the mayor appointed city planning and development officer Evelyn Cayat, city engineer Elpidio Garaviles and city building and architecture officer Nazita Banez to the TWG.
The TWG members were authorized to assign the needed number of personnel to accomplish the task within 60 days.
The mayor agreed with the city council that the road network plan is necessary for urban planning purposes.
“There is a need for the city to have its Road Network Plan to institutionalize road rehabilitation and maintenance as critical services of the local government units so that the road network is maintained in optimal condition to bring socio-economic benefits to its constituents,” the mayor said echoing Councilor Leandro Yangot Jr. who authored the resolution.
He said the plan is “a planning tool that supports the efforts of local government units to solve traffic and transportation problems, increase economic activities and improve public access to infrastructure and services.”
“The plan which involves review and updating process also develops systematic, repeatable and transparent selection processes for prioritizing road investment that involves stakeholder and community consultations.”
