LINGAYEN, Pangasinan February 15 – The province of Pangasinan fetes young Pangasinenses who won in various events in the National Schools Press Conference (NSPC) held on January 22-25 in Pagadian City, Zamboanga Peninsula. The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP), in its regular session held on February 13 approved Provincial Resolution No. 539-2017 to congratulate Pangasinense winners in NSPC who represented their respective schools divisions of the Department of Education (DepEd) based in the province. Resolution author, 4th district Board Member Jeremy Agerico Rosario said that the success of the young students is a way to motivate and encourage them and other individuals or groups to understand more the importance of journalism in a friendly and healthy competition. Leading the Pangasinense winners, Esron Rey Natividad of Alaminos City National High School was declared champion in copyreading and headline writing (filipino). Kresja Cyrill Munoz of Bolingit Elementary School, San Carlos City placed second in sports writing (english) while Gio Rosario of Mangatarem National High School was third place in sports writing (filipino). Adrian Kyle Fernandez of Dagupan City National High School pocketed fourth place in editorial cartooning (filipino). Basista Central School Sped Center pupils Eduard Benedick Laroco ranked third in science and technology writing (english) and Rhonald Karl Fernandez finished eight in editorial cartooning (filipino). Meanwhile, the radio broadcasting team of Alaminos City National High School settled 3rd place in script writing (filipino) while the radio broadcasting team of Alaminos City Central School harvested the 7th best news anchor, 6th best news production, 6th best infomercial, 6th best in technical applications and 6th best news script awards. It can be recalled that the SP during its previous regular session recognized the Mother Goose Special School System, Inc. based in Dagupan City for producing a winning radio broadcasting team in NSPC. The Department of Education conducts the NSPC annually to showcase and recognize the best campus journalists/broadcasters from all over the country.
