TABUK CITY, Kalinga, – In celebration of the 10th Tabuk City Abilympics and 39th National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week, different contested activities for the rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) were held.
The activity ran from July 25-27 at the People’s Gymnasium.
This year’s theme was ‘’Karapatan at Pribelehiyo ng may kapansanan, Isakatuparan at Ipaglaban.’’
City Mayor Ferdinand Tubban during the occasion lauded the PWDs for sharing their talents and skills amid their disability of which he considered very inspiring.
‘’Having a disability is not the end of everything but a challenge that tests your faith and relationship with God, Tubban quoted.
The following were the winners: Rush Lee Sangayab and Janine Narbasa (Abilympics King and Queen 2017); Frank Lloyd Roy and Angel Rose Madamecela (spelling bee); Vincent Dongalob (solo); Sita Abando and Lina Abando (duet); Glenford Cabacsan (dama)-all from Kalinga Special Education Center.
Other winners were Carolyn Saldo (poster), Joffrim Wackisan (scrabble)- both from Lin-awa Rehabilitation Center; Steban Auroraof Brgy. San JUlian (adult singing) and Clifford Dona-al of Tabuk City Central School (poem writing).
As per records of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), a total of 1,064 PWDs are registered distributed as follows: physical (400), sensorial (345), intellectual (135), learning (115) and psychosocial (69).
