TUBA, Benguet – A 33-year old taxi driver died after he was stabbed on the different parts of his body by still unidentified assailants believed to be natives of Kalinga outside a store at Badiwan, here Wednesday.
Senior Superintendent Florante Camuyot, officer-in-charge of the Benguet Provincial Police Office, identified the victim as Jessie Gorospe Puzon, 33, married, taxi driver and a resident of Badiwan, Tuba, Benguet.
Initial police investigation showed that the victim and his brother-in-law, Banwar Martin Corpuz, 37, single and a resident of the same place went to a nearby store to have a drinking spree.
However, the duo had a misunderstanding with a group of individuals believed to be from Kalinga because of the way they speak but the same was subsequently settled between the parties.
After sometime, the victim went out of the store without the knowledge of his companion and then he was followed by the group of male individuals who allegedly repeatedly stabbed him until he until he was sprawled bloodied on the ground.
The lifeless body of the victim was only discovered several hours later and he was subsequently rushed to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center for medical treatment but he was declared dead on arrival.
Probers are now conducting a manhunt operation against the suspects who are said to be known in their neighbourhood.
