HINGYON, Ifugao – An 18-year old out-of-school youth was confined in a local hospital after he was mauled and struck with a wooden stool by her own cousin because of a heated altercation inside the residence of a neighbor at Piwong here around 5 pm Saturday.
Superintendent Cherry Fajardo, public information officer of the Police Regional Office (PRO) in the Cordillera, identified the victim as Vanessa Dadyahon Basillo, 18, single while she named the suspect as Roy Baillo Balacquit, 21, single, a tricycle driver and both residents of Piwong, Hingyon, Ifugao.
Initial police investigation showed the victim and the suspect were inside the residence of a certain Alfredo Kimmayong, one of their neighbors, and while they were discussing things, a heated altercation suddenly erupted between them.
At this juncture, the suspect grabbed a wooden stool and struck the victim several times on her head causing her to fall on the floor.
Responding neighbors and concerned citizens immediately rushed the victim to a local hospital where she is now confined undergoing further medical supervision while the suspect was arrested by responding police operatives and now detained at the Hingyon Municipal Police Station awaiting the filing of attempted homicide charges against him before the Ifugao provincial prosecutor’s office.
