LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The celebration of the 1st La Trinidad District Alternative Learning System (ALS) day on September 22 at Ben Palispis Hall, Benguet Provincial Capitol was highlighted with the capping of Jemuel Urban of Cruz CLC and Melody Belardo of Wangal CLC as Mr. and Ms. ALS 2017.
“I think I deserve the title Ms. ALS 2017 because I have given my best with joy in my heart while performing on stage”, was Belardo’s answer to her question that earned the highest total points from the members of the board of judges that include barangay Wangal Kagawad Pearl Mendoza, Juanita Villena from the municipal LGU, Rodriguez Belino, ALS-Education Program Specialist, Wilfred Bagsao and Mila Caliging, Mathematics and Science Education Program Supervisors, respectively. Similarly, Urban’s catching stage performances and creditable response made him worthy of his title. Best in Sports also went to Belardo while Urban shared Best in Cultural Attire with Monica Rivera.
On the other hand, Nimra Toctocan and Ian Tan landed 1st Runner Ups whereas Salvacion Basarte and Zosimo Francisco emerged 2nd Runner Ups and both bagged Best in Avant Garde attire while Best in Talent was awarded to the former together with Jasper Fernandez.
“Joining the said contest made me realize that I am after all capable of performing in front of a big crowd. I was so hesitant at first because of I don’t believe in myself but the heart touching pieces of advice of my mentors, Sir Tamiray, Ma’am Dalay-on and Ma’am Batocong inspired me to give a try and I did it beyond expectations” said Francisco, one among the winning candidates. Credits to the talented ALS learners, Roger Sinong, Jake Calis and Efrelyn Bulcio who served as trainers and directors of the Search activity together with Christine Cauan, ALS facilitator.
