BAGUIO CITY – Women Judokas of the Cordillera Judo Association under the YMCA-KAITAGI Judo club are now gearing up for participation in the 2018 Philippine Sports Commission “ALL WOMEN MARTIAL ARTS COMPETITION”, slated October 22-25, 2018 at the Harrizon Plaza, in Metro Manila.
The PSC sponsored women martial arts competition is an annual sports program seeking participation of women in the different field of martial arts for future representation of the country in international competitions in the field.
Also forming part of the grassroots program of the PSC, the competition provides the women athletes experience in an all women national competition and the development of athletes as future members of the Philippine Team.
Meanwhile, 6 women athletes who excelled in the concluded “Batang Pinoy” Judo event last held September 2018, will be representing Baguio City, according to Sensei Wilfredo Dino, Head Instructor of the YMCA-KAITAGI JUDO CLUB.
The 6-9 years old Kids category will be represented by Bea Aguilar (7yrs. old), fighting under the -21 Kgs. division, while the Juvenile 10-14 years old category will be represented by 11 year old Zoey Itliong fighting under the -52 Kgs. division.
Also fighting in the same division is 14 year old Mariah Christine Pauly, while Fiona Merino also 14 years old will make her quest in the -63 Kgs. division. The Cadets category,(15-17 years old) category will also be represented by 16 year old, Aliyana Lorenzo who will battle it out under the -57 Kgs. division.
Sensei Dino also said that veteran women Judokas’ Sharon Kaybelle Dino and Rowena Lorenzo Salinas were delegated to guide and coach the Baguio City athletes in their quest for victory during their participation to the competition at the 2018 All Women Martial Arts Competition, a national tournament in scope.
