BAGUIO CITY – A 24-year old back rider died while his two companions were injured after their motorcycle collided head on with a taxi coming from an opposite direction along Manuel Roxas St., Trancoville, here recently.
Senior Superintendent George D,. DAskeo, acting city director of the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO), identified the fatality as Joey Carbonelle, 24, who hails from Bakun, Benguet while the injured individuals were named as Dizon Lictag Sinak-ey, 26, married, labourer and Wilbert Espada Polon, 19, also a labourer and both residents of Liteng, Pacdal, Baguio City.
Initial police investigation showed the motorcycle of the victims was en route to Rimand area when it invaded the opposite lane and collided head on with a taxi driven by Rhoman Day-ong Dio-al, 28, married, a resident of KB-64 Cruz, La Trinidad, Benguet. Causing the three individuals to be thrown off their vehicle.
Concerned citizens rushed the three individuals to the Pines City Doctors Hospital for medical treatment but Carbonelle died while undergoing treatment while his two companions were confined and were later released from the hospital.
The taxi driver is expected to face charges of reckless imprudence resulting to homicide and multiple physical injuries and damage to property before the city prosecutor’s office.
