LAGAWE, Ifugao – A 34-year old labourer died while his 23-year old fellow labourer was injured after a concrete slab which is undergoing construction suddenly collapsed at sitio Nadalipayan, Boliweng, here, recently.
Police authorities identified the fatality as Francis Gulgulway Ayadawan, 34, single, laborer, and a resident of Rock Quarry, Poblacion East, Lagawe, Ifugao while his injured colleague was named as Marlon Binlang Dinamling, 23, single, laborer, and a resident of Boliwong, Lagawe, Ifugao.
Initial police investigation showed that the two construction workers were operating a concrete mixer on the side of the road when a concrete slab that was already put in place in the area collapsed.
The victims tried to free themselves from being struck by the collapsed concrete slab but the same hit the fatality that caused him to sustain multiple injuries that resulted to his instantaneous death while his companion sustained multiple injuries due to the said incident.
The victims were rushed to a local hospital for medical treatment but the fatality was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians while his companion was undergoing close medical supervision from concerned health workers in the health facility.
Probers are still ascertaining why the established concrete slab collapsed while the construction workers were working on the same.
