LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – A 53-year old driver and an alleged drug surrenderee was killed while a 50-year old self-employed man was injured after they were fired upon by still unidentified assailants at Boted, Tawang, here, Tuesday evening.
Police authorities identified the fatality as Doming Padiwan Bangkoko Jr., 53, married, driver/operator, and a resident at Rocky Side 1, Lubas, La Trinidad, Benguet while the injured individual was named as Joseph Venacio Smith 50, married, self-employed, and a resident at Boted, Tawang, La Trinidad, Benguet.
Initial police investigation showed the victim was driving his vehicle when upon reaching the place of incident, he was fired upon by a still unidentified gunman who immediately fled towards an undisclosed direction after the perpetration of the crime.
Smith, who heard the first burst of gunfire, immediately went out of their house to see his child who was playing outside but two successive shots followed that caused a stray bullet to hit him on his left armpit.
The drug surrendered was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians while Smith was undergoing close medical supervision at the Benguet General Hospital.
Responding police operatives and elements of the Scene of the Crime Operation (SOCO) team recovered several spent shells of a still undetermined type of firearm which was used by the suspect in the perpetration of the crime.
