TABUK CITY, Kalinga – A 25-year old restaurant helper died while his 29-year old back rider was injured after a head on collision between their motorcycle and a van along the national highway at Agbannawag, here, Wednesday.
Police authorities identified the fatality as Sharlyn Parilla Fonnecer, 25, married, restaurant helper and resident of Agbannawag, Tabuk City, Kalinga while his injured back rider was named as Marvin Patongan Maga-ao, 29, single, farmer and resident of Casigayan, Bulo, Tabuk City.
On the other hand, the suspect in the said incident was identified by the police as Pangya Gannise Banot, 41, married, farmer, and resident of Madopdop, Lacnog, Tabuk City.
Initial police investigation showed that the van was travelling along the national highway while the motorcycle was about to move out from a compound when the collision occurred that caused the occupants of the motorcycle to be thrown out of their vehicle.
The motorcycle occupants were immediately brought to the Kalinga Provincial Hospital for medical treatment but the driver was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians while his back rider is still undergoing close medical supervision in the same hospital.
The van driver and the involved vehicle were brought to the Tabuk City Police office for the filing of the appropriate charges that will be filed against him before the city prosecutor’s office.
