TUBA, Benguet – One individual died while two others were injured after an ill-fated truck allegedly rolled over a descending portion of Marcos highway and rammed into several motor vehicles before resting on the fence of an establishment at Bontiway, Poblacion, here, Thursday night.
Police authorities identified the fatality as Ruel Padilla Ocañada, 44, married, driver and a resident of Purok 14, Lower Cypress, Irisan, Baguio City while the injured truck helpers were named as Eulinemar Raguindin Talabis, 29, married, driver and a resident of Wangal, La Trinidad, Benguet and a 15-year old minor and a resident of Purok 14, Irisan, Baguio City.
Probers disclosed that the ill-fated truck was parked on the right side of the road where its helpers were transferring its load of vegetables to another truck when its front tires suddenly rolled and going over the wedges.
The truck continued to roll until it rammed into the rear portion of a sports Utility Vehicle that was parked and the rear portion of a passenger jeepney that was descending along the highway.
Three persons were initially reported to have been injured because of the said incident but the lone fatality reportedly expired while undergoing medical treatment of the injuries that he sustained due to the said collisions.
The vehicle reportedly rested on the fence of a private establishment on the side of the road.
Damages to the bumped vehicles and the fence of the affected establishment are yet to be determined by the investigators. By Dexter A. See
