BAGUIO CITY – The local government, through the City Accounting office, recently recognized some ten barangays in the city for their unwavering and uncompromising commitment and dedication in continuously upholding responsible financial management in the grassroots level that translated to the wise utilization of public funds and the efficient delivery of basic services to their respective constituents.
The barangays that were given certificates of commendation by the local government for responsible financial management are Cresencia Village, Hillside, Imelda Marcos, San Antonio Village, Upper Gen. Luna, Pacdal, Camp 8, West Modernsite, Mines View and City Camp Proper.
The certificates of recognition that was handed over by city officials to the concerned barangays were signed by City Accountant Freda Jimenez and Councilor Rocky M. Aliping, who is also the president of the Liga ng mga Barangay – Baguio City chapter.
The said barangays, especially through their respective barangay treasurers, made sure that their financial reports are submitted accurately and on time adhering to the principles of transparency, accountability and good governance.
The city celebrated not just compliance of their barangays but also their display of honesty, efficiency and transparency in handling their respective financial transactions.
Further, the recognized barangays ensured that public funds had been properly accounted for and that the delivery of basic services remain to be efficient and uninterrupted for the benefit of their respective constituents.
The basic criteria for the said recognition was for the barangays to submit their reports for the 12 months on or before the 10th of the following month.
The city stated that the standards set by the recognized barangays should serve as an inspiration and motivation to other barangays to strive for excellence in their respective financial transactions for the benefit of their communities and the city as a whole. By Dexter A. See
