BAGUIO CITY – The local government, through the Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO), will be conducting a 10-day Pedia Camp or Summer Camp for children with disabilities on April 22 to May 1, 2025 at the premises of the Baguio City National Science High School in Irisan.
PDAO head Dr. Samuel Aquino said that some 100 children with disabilities and 150 volunteers will be housed in the said institution for ten days to allow them to care for the kids.
He advised parents of interested children with disabilities and volunteers to register with the PDAO to ensure order in the conduct of the said noble activity which is geared towards extending the needed assistance to the children with disabilities.
The PDAO official claimed that prior to the conduct of the Summer camp, there will be a free training for interested volunteers on how to care for the children with disabilities from April 17-21, 2025 in the same venue.
Volunteers are advised to bring their own food during the schedules of the training as the same will run for the whole day.
Aquino stipulated that the Pedia camp is open to children who have different kinds of disabilities to allow them to be able to immerse themselves with their fellow children as part of the PDAO’s initiative to allow them to be integral part of the mainstream society.
The PDAO chief expressed hope that the number of children with disabilities and volunteers who will be joining the said event will be realized as the same will serve as a benchmark in planning the conduct of similar events in the future.
He called on interested children with disabilities and volunteers to already register but the PDAO will also accept walk-in individuals wanting to actively participate in the noble activity that had been painstakingly organized and planned for the purpose. By Dexter A. See
