PUDTOL, Apayao – The municipality is gearing up for the 10th Pinya Festival, a four-day celebration running from June 23 to 27, 2025, that blends agricultural heritage with community festivities.
The event opens on June 23 with the Pinyalympics–Community Edition at the municipal grounds, featuring competitions such as pineapple peeling, cookfest, wine drinking, pinya stacking, darts, and pinya-eating contest. Representatives from farmers’ groups, senior citizens, women’s groups, persons with disability, and visitors will take part.
The Agri-Tourism Trade Booth and Pinya Farm Tour will also open to showcase Pudtol’s thriving pineapple sector and sustainable agriculture practices. Completed infrastructure projects will be inaugurated in the municipality on the same day.
On June 25, championship games and awarding ceremonies for the sports tournament will take place.
June 26 will begin with a Thanksgiving Mass and the Imnas and Taer Sashing Ceremony with barangay captains, followed by a grand civic parade, the oath-taking of newly elected officials, and the unveiling of the 10th Pinya Festival Giant Pineapple. The evening program features a Hip-hop Dance Competition and Battle of the Bands at the Ampayag Evacuation Facility and Sports Center.
The final day, June 27, includes a recognition program for outgoing and incoming municipal officials, followed by the LGU Edition of the Pinyalympics. The celebration concludes with a cultural show and the coronation of Taer ken Imnas ti Pudtol 2025.
Now on its 10th year, the Pinya Festival remains one of the province’s most dynamic local celebrations, honoring Pudtol’s farming roots while looking ahead to sustained community development. By Loremia Pareja
