PIDIGAN, Abra – Twelve people on board two vehicles were successfully arrested by combined police and military personnel in an interception operation at Barangay Laskig, here, Saturday.
Earlier, police received an information from concerned residents on an alleged commotion between the supporters of two contending politicians that prompted theme to conduct the necessary operations to effect the arrest of the responsible individuals.
During the operation, two vehicles were flagged down by the police and military personnel where the said individuals were on board.
Further, the search on the said vehicles yielded 4 M16A1 Cal.5.56 1 Bosch Master Cal. 5.56; 8 Long Mag. and short mag. of Cal. 5.56 loaded with 224 Cal. 5.56 live ammunitions; 5 Cal.45 pistols; 7 Magazines of Cal.45 loaded with 48 cal.45 live ammunitions; 12 live 9mm ammunitions; 2 plate no. of with markings of NFO 9209; 4 black Inside Waist Holster; 2 Commercial Handheld Radio; 5 cellphones; 4 Tactical Sling bags and 6 ballistic Vest.
The local police is still conducting a thorough investigation on the said mater while charges of violation of the pertinent provisions of Republic Act (RA) 9165 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunitions Act and the gun ban imposed by the Commission on election (Comelec) are being readied for filing against the arrested individuals.
