BAGUIO CITY – Some twelve barangays in the city were recently recognized by the city government and the Baguio City Fire Station (BCFS) for their exceptional contributions in supporting the programs and initiatives of the bureau through their active participation in various activities.
These barangays were also instrumental in the creation of community fire auxiliary group (CFAG) composed of volunteers from their respective barangays that contributed in enhancing the firefighting efforts of the BCFS.
The barangays with established CFAG volunteers are Atok Trail under the leadership of punong barangay Federico Codli, Kias headed by punong barangay Victor Belingen, Jr., Loakan Liwanag led by punong barangay Abraham Ormasa, City Camp Central under the stewardship of punong barangay Jessie Salvador Bandiola, City Camp Proper headed by punong barangay Jaime Bustarde, Gabriela Silang led by punong barangay Orlando Basongit, Hillside headed by punong barangay Allan Bandoy, Camdas Subdivision led by punong barangay Clarence Domiles, Irisan under the stewardship of punong barangay Arthur Carlos, Sto. Tomas Proper led by punong barangay Alejandro Agpes, Dontogan headed by punong barangay Renato Bogcog, Sr. and Asin being spearheaded by punong barangay Peter Dumape.
The BCFS stated that the unwavering commitment of the barangays and their respective officials to enhancing public safety, educating the community, and implementing timely and effective fire response strategies has made a profound impact on wellbeing of the entire community.
“We sincerely appreciate your efforts in fostering a safer and more resilient environment for all,” read the certificate of recognition that were distributed to the barangay.
One of the strategies adopted by the Baguio City Fire Station is the organization of barangay fire brigades from the city’s 128 barangays to contribute in providing the necessary trainings to ensure the timely and immediate response by first responders in cases of fires that may transpire in their respective barangays.
