LUNA, Apayao – The Department Trade and Industry- Apayao (DTI) conducted a two-day training workshop on Loom Woven Textile Product Development on September 28-29,2024 for twelve micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
These MSMEs include dressmakers and tailors coming from various municipality and actively participated in the said workshop held at the DTI Compound.
During the training, the participants showed their eagerness to learn what’s new on fashion and design, and were not hindered by the inclement weather being experienced due to Typhoon Julian.
Julienne Paran, a consultant and a fashion designer, imparted her knowledge by providing lectures on fashion designing, body shape identification, illustration, culture appropriation and appreciation, draping techniques, and color selection.
Moreover, Paran assisted the MSMEs in finalizing their respective design illustrations through a one-on-one consultation, adding she will continue to provide guidance as they move forward to the transmutation of their designs.
After the training workshop the participants expressed their gratitude to DTI-Apayao for conducting said activity, recognizing its potential in enhancing their skills and knowledge. Soon, they said they will be producing market-competitive products out of the local loom woven textiles. By Michelle Acantilado
