LUNA, Apayao – One hundred twenty trainees began their Basic Internal Security Operations Course (BISOC) and underwent Community Immersion Program (CIP) on August 12, 2024.
The BISOC 45-day training is held at Camp Gov Elias K Bulut Sr and Training Center, Brgy Sta Lina, Luna, Apayao and aims to upgrade police personnel with knowledge and skills for counter insurgency efforts.
This is aligned with the whole-of-nation approach of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) under EO70, in which the BISOC foundation course, enhanced with Special Counter-Insurgency Operations Unit Training, will provide trainees with counter-insurgency skills and knowledge on engagement and immersion in conflict affected communities thru CIP.
With these, participants are better able to perform their duties in establishing and protecting conflict-affected communities by addressing the root causes of insurgency.
Apayao Police Provincial Office spearheaded by PCOL Jefferson P. Cariaga, Provincial Director facilitated the turn-over ceremony of the BISOC Class 02-13-RCOR 2024-32 and Class 02-13-RCOR-2024-33 “ALIGTAK” for the Community Immersion Program (CIP).
PLTCOL Arvin B Fabro, the Officer-in-Charge of Regional Special Training Unit, meantime, turned over the 120 BISOC trainees to PCOL Charles L Domallig, Chief Regional Learning and Doctrine Development Division, for their CIP via zoom platform.
In his message, PCOL Cariaga highlighted the usefulness of the program aiding police personnel to be more abreast with community issues and more equipped skills to develop practical solutions, ultimately fostering stronger community relations and more effective policing.
The training is designed to hone the trainees’ abilities to be effective and skilled police officers through immediate action drills, land navigation, water search and rescue, among others. Apayao has launched two classes of the BISOC last June 24, 2024. By Krizza Joy Castillo
