FLORA, Apayao – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has implemented the Risk Resiliency Program Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation Disaster Risk Reduction (RRP CCAM DRR) in Barangay Malayugan, Flora, Apayao, benefiting 126 vulnerable community members.
This program provides projects and activities aimed at mitigating the impacts of climate change and reducing disaster risk through a Cash for Training and Cash for Work (CFW) modality.
The RRP CCAM DRR is designed to increase the adaptive capacities of vulnerable communities. The program commenced with a face-to-face orientation on disaster risk reduction during a social preparation activity held at the Malayugan Barangay Hall Multipurpose Gymnasium from May 20-23, 2024.
Convergence projects involving the DSWD, the provincial government, the barangay local government units, and the community aim to help vulnerable households cope with the effects of catastrophes. These projects include slope protection, community gardening, and creating social welfare facilities through a counterparting system.
Each beneficiary will receive a daily income of PhP 430.00 for 15 days of cash for work training. The provincial government will provide building supplies and materials for these projects, while the DSWD will provide labor through the Cash for Work program. By Michelle Acantilado
