FLORA, Apayao – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in convergence with the Provincial Government of Apayao through the Office of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (PDRRMO) , Office of the Provincial Planning & Development Office( PPDO), Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Flora led the turn-over ceremony of the accomplished projects thru LAWA AT BINHI program on August 20, 2024 at barangay Malayugan, Flora, Apayao.
The Local Adaptation to Water Access (LAWA) and Breaking Insufficiency through Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished (BINHI) program is implemented through the Risk Resiliency Program-Cash for Work and Training by the DSWD.
This initiative seeks to address two pressing issues faced by a community: water scarcity and food insecurity.
Through this program, partner beneficiaries from the said barangay joined hands in constructing a Flood Control Infrastructure (Phase I) and in Planting of Vegetables seeds and Propagules in Communal Gardens (Phase 2) benefiting 126 residents of Barangay Malayugan.
In her message Ms. Dominga Agcaoili shared her experience throughout their working days highlighting that ” iti pinagtitinnulong, panagmaymaysa(unity), ken pinagkiki-innawatan mi a agkakadwa or a kas agkaka grupo ket nagmayat, alisto nalpas iti ubra mi”.
The turn over ceremony were attended by the Provincial Technical Working group- Mr. Leonel A Basquez, Mrs. Jane Tarmad, Mr. Jeoffrey Borromeo – PDRRMO, Mrs. Marilou Valdez – Municipal Administrator, Ms. Iris Venus C.
