FLORA, Apayao – A total of 126 beneficiaries of the Cash for Work Training (CWT) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development-Cordillera (DSWD-CAR) received PhP8,600 each for 20 days of CWT.
DSWD-CAR spearheaded the pay out of the wages of said beneficiaries on August 20,2024 held in Barangay Malayugan in this municipality.
One of the beneficiaries Edralyn Fernando, 33 years old, acknowledged the importance of the assistance and said, ” dakkel a tulong kanyami daytuy nga naawat mi, igatang ko ti kasapulan ti kusina, bagas ken kasapulan ti annak ken vitamins, allowance ti annak nga agbas-basa”.
Meantime, Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator Henry B. Calud exhorted the recipients to keep supporting the programs of the provincial government headed by Governor Elias C. Bulut Jr., saying ” agtitinnulong tayu nga mangsabat, mangarakop ken mangsupporta iti programa iti ili ken probinsya tayo para iti agnanayun, ken napinpintas a panagdur-as iti probinysa ti Apayao.”
During the payout, 36 barangay officials of Malayugan including barangay kagawad, barangay tanod and barangay health workers also participated in the community-based training on Waste Analysis and Characterization Study.
The training was initiated by the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office of Flora, Bureau of Fire Protection and Green Luzon.
The purpose of the training is to give knowledge and skills to barangay officials on how to manage wastes and how to conduct rescue operations in incidents such as fire, flooding, landslide and other disasters that may be encountered by the community. By Michelle Acantilado
