LUNA, Apayao – Thirteen farmers’ cooperatives and associations (FCAs) in Apayao have received substantial agricultural support, including 10 pump and engine sets, 10 multi-cultivators, and various vegetable seeds, totaling PhP2,820,000.
This assistance comes from the Department of Agriculture-Research Outreach Station (DA-ROS) High Value Crops Development Program and the Department of Agriculture Office-Cordillera.
The turnover ceremony was held today, May 15, 2024, at the DA compound in Tumog, Luna, Apayao led by Apayao Agricultural Programs Coordinating Officer Director Raponcel D. Saguilot, Apayao Lone District Representative Eleanor C. Bulut-Begtang, and Governor Elias C. Bulut Jr.
Due to water access issues, some areas of the province still rely solely on rainfall and small-scale community irrigation systems. This intervention aims to alleviate some of these challenges.
“Umasideg kayo iti DA ta adu iti programa da nga makatulong kanyayu,” said Gov. Bulut. “Dapat adda dagidiayen wish list yu nga kunada tapno masakbayan tayo nu ana talaga iti maited nga para kanyayo. Agplano kayo for the next five years haan laeng nga para tatta. We must always develop our ways forward,” he added.
He likewise conveyed his appreciation to the DA-ROS for their steadfast support in assisting the FCAs with their farming challenges.
Meanwhile, Bulut-Begtang addressed the issues and concerns of the FCAs. Prior to the ceremonial turnover, Rep. Bulut-Begtang listened to their challenges and provided guidance on how they could obtain immediate assistance from the government. By Michelle Acantilado
