Some one hundred forty-four par busters will be participating in the 6th edition of the Philex Golf for a Cause which will be held at the par 72 Pinewoods Golf and Country Club course on November 14, 2023.
Atty. Eduardo M. Aratas, Philex legal and administrative manager, said that the one-day golf tournament is aimed at raising funds to sustain the company’s mining engineering scholarship program to encourage the youth to take up the mining engineering course to produce more mining professionals in the future.
The tournament is spearheaded by the Philex Mines Golfers’ Club, Inc. which was organized in 2016 through the initiative of Philex president and chief executive officer Engr. Eulalio B. Austin,Jr.
Aratas claimed that more golfers are still trying their luck to be listed and join the said tournament, but they are still placed in the waiting list considering that the schedule had already been filled up.
Beautifully and specially crafted trophies await the overall champion and the tournament champion of the said golf tournament while exciting raffle prizes await the players during the awarding ceremony right after the event.
Earlier, golfers from Philex’s Padcal mines in nearby Tuba, Benguet made playing golf meaningful by organizing small tournaments and inviting their partners such as contractors, suppliers, organizations among others where proceeds were used to send mining engineering students who are children of employees of the mining company to pursue their studies.
Aratas expressed his gratitude to all the golfers and sponsors of the event for their contributions that will be used to sustain the implementation of the company’s scholarship program for the benefit of upcoming mining professionals.
