FLORA, Apayao – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Apayao, through the Negosyo Center in Flora, conducted a one-day Skills Training on Fruit Processing for eighteen (18) officers and members of the Malayugan Flora Agriculture Cooperative (MAFAACo) on August 28, 2024, in Flora, Apayao.
The training was led by Aries Boy Enriquez, a seasoned winery proprietor, who shared invaluable insights on various fruit processing techniques, with a particular emphasis on wine and vinegar production.
During the training, the trainees learned proper use of essential tools, such as the refractometer and airlock, crucial for ensuring the quality and safety of the products.
The secret to crafting high-quality winery products was also emphasized. Enriquez said the secret lies not only in the technical expertise but also in the deep passion for the craft and a genuine desire to foster camaraderie within the community through production of quality products.
After the training, Bernardo Carlos, Chairman of the Board of the Cooperative, expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the unwavering support of DTI-Apayao. He emphasized the cooperative’s eagerness to strengthen their partnership with the agency and explore further collaboration opportunities.
Soledad Tacmo, a cooperative member, also stressed her gratitude for the skills training, noting that it has instilled a renewed sense of confidence among the members.
Tacmo highlighted their enthusiasm to embark on new ventures in fruit processing, with the aim of delivering high-quality products to the public in the near future. By Michelle Acantilado
