FLORA, Apayao – Nineteen high school students successfully completed their training at the Farmer Livestock School (FLS) on Small Ruminant Production.
The graduates were awarded certificates and sheep during a ceremony held at Allig National Agricultural and Trade High School on June 24, 2024.
These graduates underwent six months of intensive training on aspects of small ruminant production including sheep and goat farming, breeding, nutrition, health management, and proper handling techniques.
Sheep and goats offer tremendous potential for local farmers. These animals can transform weeds, bushes, grass, and other plants found on rangeland and pastureland into valuable products such as meat, milk, fiber, leather, and even pharmaceuticals. Additionally, they are excellent scavengers, efficiently gleaning fields and making the most of available resources. By Michelle Acantilado
