LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Pursuant to DepEd Regional Memorandum No. 253 s2017, the 1st batch of teachers from the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) whose research proposals passed in a thorough evaluation of the Regional Research Review and Evaluation Committee (RRREC) were called for a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing and orientation with the Department of Education Cordillera Administrative Region (DepEd-Car) for Basic Education Research Fund (BERF) funding last September 4 at the SNC Hall, DepEd-CAR Regional Office Wangal La Trinidad Benguet.
There were only 11 proponents of the 1st batch. Nine of which are from the Schools Division of Benguet namely Loida B. Boslay, Mark Aljon E. Valenciano, Lani G. Bayanes, Georgina C. Ducayso of Tublay Schools of Home Industries-Main, Tublay Benguet; Mary Jane B. Bayeng of Suyoc Elementary School, Mankayan, Benguet; Ellamae U. Peng-as of Alapang-Camp Dangwa Elementary School, La Trinidad Benguet; Clarita E. Eddio of Eastern La Trinidad National High School, Beckel La Trinidad Benguet; Dolores G. Fidel of Labinio-Aquiso Elementary School, Bakun Benguet; and Grace V. Bruno of Maximiano Fianza Lopez Elementary School, Itogon I Benguet. The other proponents are Alfredo B. Lanas of Metodio Elementary School Lagangilang District Abra; and Roselyn T. Dacwag of Antadao National High School, Sagada Mountain Province.
On the part of DepEd, present during the MOA signing are Pio D. Ecuan, Ed.D, the Chief Education Supervisor under the Policy, Planning, and Research Division (PPRD) who also served as the Co-Chairman of the Regional Research Review and Evaluation Committee (RRREC); Aida L. Payang, the Chief Education Supervisor of Quality Assurance Division who also served as member of RRREC; Crisanta P. Pantaleon, the Education Program Supervisor II of the PPRD; and Cyrille Gaye B. Miranda, Statistician I of PPRD.
The evaluation of the action research proposals submitted by the proponents was based on the criteria prescribed in DepEd Order No. 16, s. 2017 or the Research Management Guidelines. As a BERF grantee, each proponent is entitled to a maximum of P30, 000.00 assistant funds for school level and six months duration to complete the research, while a maximum of P150, 000 for Division and Regional level and a maximum of one year for the duration of the research. This is applicable to both action and basic research.
During the MOA signing, the proponents were oriented on the requirements, roles, and responsibilities of both the researcher and the concerned committees. Dr. Ecuan also reminded the proponents that under the BERF, DepEd is a co-owner of the research done by the proponents, thus a written permission from the department is needed in cases wherein the result of the study will be used for lectures, conferences and forums.
These are just the 1st batch of researchers. The second batch who submitted their proposals as 11 from the Schools Divisions of Mountain Province and 57 proposals are coming from the Schools Division of Baguio City for the 3rd batch.
