BAGUIO CITY September 21 – Kalye Uno, the first co-working and collaborative place in the city offering an internet speed of up to 300mbps, opened its doors to the working class Sunday along 1st Road Quezon Hill near its junction with Naguilian road.
Ace Estrada II, Kalye Uno president and chief executive officer, said the first-ever co-working place in the city will serve as a meeting area for millennial and working professionals wanting to have a convenient working space for themselves while away from their respective offices.
“We want to offer our available space for those who need a convenient and comfortable place to accomplish their assigned tasks while enjoying the city’s cool weather and a fast internet speed suitable for their work,” Estrada stressed.
He revealed Kalye Uno has sufficient working areas for those who want to confine themselves to specific areas where they can efficiently and effectively accomplish their assigned tasks.
According to him, the availability of a co-working place in the city will surely attract visitors from other places wanting to spend a break in the city while doing their work. It will guarantee that people will no longer move out of the city because there is the said collaborative space where they can conveniently work even outside their offices with fast internet speed for their business transactions.
Estrada claimed his company wants to establish a similar co-working place within the Baguio Post office compound and the said project is now in the works with the hope that it will be operational before the end of the year to cater to the needs of those within the central business district area.
He pointed out the concept of the co-working place is to bring your own gadget to avoid acquiring the virus of the gadgets of others and what will be provided by the management will be the use of the internet infrastructure.
He admitted the current connectivity problem being encountered in the city because of its peculiar mountainous condition serves as an obstacle in the put up of a good number of co-working places around the city to cater to the growing internet requirements of the millennials and the working professionals who are always on the go but there is a need for the company to start somewhere thus, the put up of Kalye Uno that is now gaining popularity in the city.
Estrada encouraged the public to visit Kalye Uno to be able to experience using a fast internet speed that could help them accomplish whatever pending works they have without rushing to their respective offices and having to be caught in traffic that will contribute to the delay in what they could accomplish during the hour.
He said part of their corporate social responsibility is to provide deserving indigent youth the needed education through Technology for Education Program for them to acquire the skills and knowledge that could be accredited through the Alternative Learning System (ALS) and make possible for them to have gainful employment.
