La Trinidad, Benguet – The Alternative Learning System (ALS) made a meritorious record with its 1st La Trinidad District ALS Day that was attended by 157 learners to compete in the different contests and 31 personalities from the different sectors on September 22 at Ben Palispis Hall, Benguet Provincial Capitol with the theme, “realizing dreams the ALS way”.
Mayor Romeo Salda, thru his representative Mr. Francis Lee, graced the occasion and inspired the learners to press on with their dreams in life citing stories of people who triumphed in their career thru the ALS program. “I shall remain very supportive of the endeavors of ALS”, he said. Salda’s office caused an amount of php40,000 for the said event while the council of barangays Puguis, Ambiong, Pico, Wangal, Cruz and Beckel supported the participants from their place. Ambiong officials entertained the audience with their spectacular “tallak” cultural dance showdown led by punong barangay and ABC president Hon. Teddy Quintos.
The event is aligned with the 3-year Enhanced Improvement Plan (ESIP) of ALS-La Trinidad that aims to provide developmental and empirical opportunities deemed relevant in the learners’ holistic formation. Ursula Dalay-on, guidance counselor, led the ALS implementers in crafting the project proposal and worked close with the District ALS Coordinator, Michael Tamiray, in linking said undertaking including the ALS-ESIP to the stakeholders with the active involvement of Christine Cauan, Aveguel Batocong and Joyce Polonio.
The champs in the individual events are, Clarita Frigillana for baking, Ivy Saturnino for poster-making, Violy Bosque for oration, Rowena Lacwata and Mary Chumamni for terrarium-making and table flower arrangement, correspondingly. On the other hand, Balili CLC slammed all the other contenders in the interpretative dance competition while La Trinidad CLC topped the cultural dance with due credits to their trainer Rachelle Pitas.
Members of the board of judges include, Roriguez Belino of the Benguet schools division office, Felicitas Ticbaen, Lecia Bagbagen and Catherine Cimato from the municipal LGU, Adrian Joaquin from the PNP office and kagawad of barangays Ambiong, Cruz and Wangal, Frederick Taoing, Jayson Dangwa and Pearl Mendoza, respectively. Having been amazed with the performances of the learners, Ticbaen handed an amount of php3,000 equally distributed to all the contestants on the events she judged, terrarium-making and flower arrangement.
Wilfred Bagsao, Math Education Program Supervisor and guardian of La Trinidad district hailed the organizers for the job well done and heartened the learners to do their utmost so their aspirations in life will be within reach. “I like the theme, realizing dreams the ALS way, for indeed ALS program is the road for formal school leavers like you in completing your basic education”, Bagsao said.
