TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Youth members aged 15-30 years old gathered for the 1st SK Youth Camp that formally opened this first day of August.
The four-day activity, which is organized by the City Special Concerns and Coordinating Office (CSCCO) bears the theme “Enhancing the youth, strengthening the nation”.
Several personalities attended the opening day including Ruben Tuazon, representing the Office of the Congressman; City Local Government Operations Officer Helen Lacuesta; SK Federation President Bernice Malawis; Dagupan Weste Brgy. Chairman Santiago Sotto; Henry Gupaal, Executive Assistant of City Mayor Darwin Estrañero; and some employees of the city government.
In his message during the opening ceremonies, City Vice Mayor Dick Bal-o encouraged the youth participants to always embody good values and self-discipline, and use their education for their families and the community.
The official added that youth members of the society must embark in education for a brighter future, hone their skills and talents, and shy away from illegal and unlawful doings.
He assured that the city government is in full support for the empowerment of the youth being the future of the community.
For this opening ceremony, several activities were prepared like SK Got Talent and indigenous games, and will continue with sports, arts, and academic competitions, and the search for Mr. and Ms. SK, and cultural presentation on the next days of the celebrations.
There were 26 barangays who participated on the first day of this 1st SK Youth Camp, with around 400 youth members in attendance.
