LAMUT, Ifugao – Two persons died while two others were injured after their 10-wheeler truck rammed into the side of the national highway at sitio Bangbangao, Halog, Nayon, here, recently.
Senior Superintendent Constancio Chinayog, Jr., officer-in-charge of the Ifugao Provincial Police Office, identified the fatalities as Jonathan Papiabor, 24, married laborer and a resident of Urbiztondo, Pangasinan and Bernard Samaupan, 33, single, laborer and a resident of Tabaco, Guinobatan, Albay while he named those injured as Elmer San Gabriel Ladingon, 35, married, truck driver, and a resident of barangay Talipapa Norte, Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija and Anthony Lopez Custodio, 27, laborer and a resident of barangay Cinco Cinco, Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija.
Initial police investigation showed that the 10-wheeler truck came from Lagawe town and bound for cordon, Isabela when upon reaching the place of incident, the driver noticed that the vehicle had mechanical trouble forcing him to ram the truck on the side of the road.
However, the two laboers jumped off the vehicle causing them to be buried by construction materials and broken glasses that resulted to their sustaining multiple injuries on the different parts of their bodies.
The victims were immediately rushed to the Lamut District Hospital but the two laborers were declared dead on arrival while the other two occupants sustained minor injuries.
The case is still subject to further investigation by the responding police operatives of the Lamut Municipal Police Station.
