BOKOD, Benguet – Two people died while three others were injured after their pickup truck reportedly plunged in a 300 meter deep ravine along the Benguet-Nueva Vizcaya road, particularly at barangay Boboc-Bisal, here, Sunday night.
Police authorities identified the fatalities as Sison Paut, 55, a consultant and Chacami Paut, 75.
The pick up truck came from Tabuk City, Kalinga and was heading towards Baguio City when the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle after it encountered mechanical defect, particularly the sudden locking of the steering wheel, until it plunged into the deep ravine in the said area.
Five individuals were reportedly on board the ill-fated pick up when the incident happened along the said roadline.
Responding police personnel from the Bokod Municipal Police Station and concerned residents in the area conducted rescue operations and immediately rushed the five individuals to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) for medical treatment but the two individuals reportedly died while undergoing medical treatment on the injuries they sustained.
Two of the passengers are still confined for further medical treatment while the driver was already released from the health facility and was taken into custody by the Bokod Municipal Police Station for further investigation. By Dexter A. See
