LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Combined police operatives and anti-narcotics agents successfully arrested two drug personalities and confiscated more than P100,000 worth of illegal drugs during anti-illegal drug operations in the different parts of the region this Wednesday.
In Apayao, the joint operatives from the Regional Intelligence Division (RID), Sta. Marcela Municipal Police Station (MPS), Regional Intelligence Unit-14, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15, and PDEA-Apayao implemented a search warrant in Purok 1, barangay Marcela, Sta. Marcela, that resulted in the arrest of a 32-year-old male construction worker after eight sachets of suspected shabu weighing approximately 0.28 grams, with a Standard Drug Price (SDP) of Php1,904.00, and assorted drug paraphernalia were discovered from his residence.
In Baguio City, joint operatives of Police Station 1, Police Station 7, City Investigation & Detective Management Unit, and City Intelligence Unit of the Baguio City Police Office, arrested a 31-year-old male construction worker in Sariling Sikap, San Carlos Heights, by virtue of a warrant of arrest for violation of Sec. 5, Art. II of R.A. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, issued on May 30, 2024, by Hon. Rufus G. Malecdan of Branch 60, Family Court, First Judicial Region, Baguio City, with no bail recommended.
The arrested suspects were brought to the custody of the respective units in charge for documentation and proper disposition.
Meanwhile, in Benguet, joint operatives of Kibungan MPS, Provincial Intelligence Unit, Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, RID, and PDEA-CAR conducted a marijuana eradication operation that resulted in the discovery of 2,500 pieces of marijuana seedlings with an SDP amounting to P100,000.00 in barangay Bulalacao, Tacadang, Kibungan.
All the discovered marijuana plants were burned after proper documentation, while follow-up operations are underway to locate other marijuana plantation sites and cultivators. By Dexter A. See
