BAGUIO CITY – Two former members of the news Peoples Army who are facing charges of arson and violation of the pertinent provisions of Republic Act (RA) 11479 or the Anti-Terrorism Act were arrested by combined police operatives and intelligence agents in the city.
Police authorities said that the duo is a couple, who are residents of San Jose, Tacloban City, Leyte and are now living in the city.
Earlier, the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branches 21 and 22 in Laoang, Northern Samar issued the separate warrants of arrest against the suspects where no bail was recommended for the crime of violation of RA 11479 while the recommended bail for arson was P72,000 each.
The suspects are now in the custody of local police authorities undergoing proper documentation prior to their turnover to their counterparts in Leyte for them to be present to the issuing courts for the proper disposal of the cases that were filed against them. By Dexter A. See
