BUGUIAS, Benguet – Two individuals were injured and are now undergoing medical treatment in the Abatan-based Lutheran District Hospital after their involvement in a hacking and mauling incident due to a heated altercation at sitio Wangawangan, barangay Baculongan Sur around 7 pm Tuesday.
Senior Inspector Fernando Botangen, chief of the Buguias Municipal Police Station, identified the victims as Teddy Cabinta of legal age, married, and a resident of said place and Tony Ling-ey alias “Taltalmed” of legal age, and a native of Mayaoyao, Ifugao.
Initial investigation showed the two individuals were suddenly engaged in a heated argument forcing the latter to hack the former with a bolo.
Slightly hurt over the hacking incident, Mr. Cabinta got back at Mr. Ling-ey and mauled him.
Cabinta’s wife who saw the incident reportedly sought police assistance and responding police operatives and neighbors rushed the two wounded victims to the Lutheran District Hospital for medical treatment.
Probers are still awaiting the decision of the wounded individuals whether to file the appropriate charges against each other or amicable settle their differences.
